Summary

For the last twelve years of his twenty-four year IT career, Patrick has pushed the boundaries of interactive media and web x.0 technology. Blazing a path as a hands-on energetic Director/CTO/VP Technology, Patrick built ground-breaking “never been done before” media-based and socially active interactive sites, most recently including: DeerChannel.com, the first to put wireless TV cameras on wild animals which were broadcast live and on demand. Patrick launched the Internet media revolution as Director of Technology/CTO of Yahoo! Broadcast.com where he managed the then largest Internet broadcasts with 1 million+ simultaneous viewers (including the Super Bowl, Princess Diana coverage and funeral, and hundreds of other events) and single-handedly kept the company afloat for the first two years with revenue from accounts/relationships with Intel and key partners. Patrick wrote the first major book on Internet broadcasting.

90-days-to-launch Patrick joined the team to reinvent and re-envision the technology direction of the company. The launch was on-time and under budget. This was a not-to-be-missed systems engineering and integration opportunity to engineer a never-before-attempted project to mount wireless TV cameras on wild animals at a remote University supervised research habitat. Patrick designed and built the infrastructure to capture these low-power wireless video systems and deliver the video to a dedicated remote broadcast center and associated Internet broadcast infrastructure which Patrick also designed and engineered. Managed off and on-shore developers, engineering firms & many contractors and staff. The web component was a small portion of this particular product, but included Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005, Windows Media Server , Flash, and ASP.NET.

CTO Dallas, TX, 2005-2006 (company closed after funding loss)

Patrick accepted the role of CTO to build this spin-off ringtone company from a marketing firm. Set technology direction, managed programmers, migrated data center, designed new socially interactive customer tools, aided in business development and customer relations. Windows Server 2000, 2005, SQL Server 2000, ASP.NET, Exchange. Company closed after angel investor pulled out with unrelated financial problems.

Funded and launched this award winning spin-off New Media company that built on some of Patrick’s Yahoo! Broadcast.com projects. Published the 1st Audiobook on the Internet, the 1st audiobook episodic podcast, the 1st Audiobook on MP3 CD, and was the 1st to simultaneously publish a book in print, e-book, audio tape, compact disk, and MP3 CD. Invented the MP3 CD. Designed and built corporate web and e-commerce sites with social networking components, blogs, podcasts.

Built the infrastructure, invented new Internet technologies and pushed the technology envelope to create the largest aggregator and distributor of audio and video content on the planet. Built upon strategic technical relationships with Intel, Motorola and others to sell mission critical live event broadcast services. These revenues kept the company afloat for the first two years. These relationships also led to early capital investment by Intel and others.

In addition, produced and directed the then largest Internet broadcast events, some with 1million+ simultaneous viewers, including the Super Bowl, World Series, Victoria’s Secret, 1st live broadcast from China (Intel product launch), Playboy CyberParty, NCAA Final Four, the Princess Diana death coverage and funeral in partnership with the BBC, hundreds of radio stations, MLB All Star Game, and hundreds more. Sponsored and published the then most popular audiobook in the world in 42 weekly serialized half-hour webisodes.

Employee #1. Launched company with Mark Cuban. Directly reported to Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner. Led expansion in into Europe and Asia and managed many hot-button special projects.


EARLIER EXPERIENCE

JCPenney, Corp. HQ
Project Manager, Plano, TX, New York, NY, 1988-1995

Project management, logistics software support, and analysis in a mixed Mainframe/LAN environment. Managed a transition team that helped move JCPenney from New York to the Dallas area. Planned IT infrastructure for new Distribution Centers, including the Chino California Furniture DC as well as projects and upgrades for the Buena Park California DC and the Statesville North Carolina DC. Adopted Windows 2.0/3.0 platform, Windows NT beta, Windows servers.

Senior Systems Engineer, Grand Prairie, TX, 1986–1988

Patrick provided project management, software development and support in a manufacturing environment (Mainframe/RAMIS DB). Patrick performed and extensive cost and functional evalation of indistrial CAD/CAM systems in anticipation of a major company upgrade.

Programmer/Analyst, Dallas, TX, 1985–1986

Software support and development for EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute), for electric power transmission line systems. IBM Mainframe, software library & version control.

Teledyne Geotech
Scientific Programmer, Systems Programmer, Garland, TX, 1983–1985

Developed, tested & documented software for DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) on the GSS (Global Subsurface System) project. Mainframe, A-Spec/B-Spec/C-Spec, scientific software - advanced earth model, 4-station & 3-station location, seismic analysis. Coding was done on IBM mainframes as well as other platforms and the primary code was written in Fortran 77 and a design language.
